Dr. Wm. Ryan Bartz

Dr. Wm. Ryan Bartz

I have been a practicing physician for 16 years. My goal throughout my career has always been to help people and guide them through the complexities of their health care journey. I am detail-orientated and value the ability to incorporate the many sciences that are required to provide quality, well communicated medical care. Some great acronyms like:

KISS, stands for Keep it short and simple, Is how we should try to interpret some of the scary large words we tend to use in medicine. I feel like I need to try and translate this into a language each person can understand.

ASK, stands for Always Seeking Knowledge, which describes my dedication to medicine. My passion, both professionally and personally, is knowledge. In medicine, my commitment to continuing education allows me to provide the best treatments possible. I named the clinic Apex; due to the journey it takes to try and achieve the top care for my patients’ health. I think going through this journey to become an owner and take the road to a balanced enjoyable life is my personal Apex.

Education and Dedication

I believe learning through patient experiences, books, and common sense have always taken priority. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Biology and a double minor in psychology and horticulture from the University of Tennessee in 2000. I then went to the University of Health Sciences College of Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri, where I received my Doctorate of Osteopathy in 2000. Through it all, I found myself continually excited by the idea of providing excellent medical care in all fields.

I feel that in many ways my education came from on-hand experience with the best providers in every field. I rotated with the best doctors around the world. I went to several states and countries like Wyoming, Florida, Tennessee, and even Peru.

I then made the decision that I loved all parts of medicine and did not want to choose one avenue. I started with Family Medicine. I attended the Residency Program in Jackson, Tennessee.  Through OBGYN- to Hospice we had the best education I felt and was close to my family. I achieved the “Golden Apple Award” for best resident in the UT Family Residents the year I graduated.   I then started to practice in Selmer, Tennessee and I have grown to love the place and the people.

The area was close to Memphis, where I was raised, and needed medical providers. The county and towns were used to have the classic family doctors that made house calls,  knew the 5 generations of their patients, and knew more than just a chart read about them. Listening to their advice, I did the same, and continued education in several other areas for proper certification.

In the Office

My goal is to provide comprehensive medical care while paying special attention to each individual patient's needs. I try my best to always be on the cutting edge of the newest technologies/techniques. I have an OSHA soundproof room.

I believe that my patients and their families will continue to use my office because I value the relationships I have made over the years. I am always happy to have a conversation while sharing and listening to all that my patients have to say. I value their opinions and work to make them each feel valued as the important person they are. That is also what makes medicine such a great field - it helps people feel more overall self-worth. Through my assistance, I can help people feel listened to in the office, and hopefully aid in their illnesses when they leave.

Community Involvement

Much of the local community has been inspirational. I am thankful for the care and compassion I see whenever I am out, or in need of assistance.

  • Providing Health Care for the County Jail
  • Former CMO of McNairy Regional Hospital before it was acquired.
  • House Calls to patients that can not physically get to the office
  • Sponsor several teams in the McNairy County
Outside the Office

I grew up in West Tennessee, outside of Memphis. I attended The University of Tennessee in Martin, TN. I then was accepted into medical school. The culture change and friends made me a better-rounded person. I then went to Oklahoma and did a year of rotations at the University of Oklahoma. The following yea, I went abroad to get experience in all fields of medicine.

I am an avid outdoorsman. I enjoy all types of hunting and fishing activities. My passion has been fly fishing. I have had the best teacher in the world, my father.  I also enjoy tennis and started playing when I was six years old from a former tennis coach, my mother. Without my parents, I would not be here today. I was raised to respect your elders, listen twice as much as you talk and treat others the way you want to be treated.

I attend Oakland Baptist Church in Corinth, Mississippi. Brother Randy Bostick is another person that helps guide me to be more of a Godly man.
